Frozen Planet: BBC denies misleading fans

The BBC has denied misleading Frozen Planet audience with video recording of newborn polar bear cubs filmed in an animal park, rather than in their natural habitat. Episode five of the series attributed the cubs in a lair with their mother, with many people considering they were born and filmed in the Arctic. But the cubs were in fact in a Dutch animal park, as exposed in behind-the-scenes footage on the show's website.

The BBC said the filming was "standard practice" for natural history shows. "This particular series would be impractical to film in the wild," a BBC spokesperson said. "The commentary accompanying the series is carefully worded so it doesn't give the wrong impression to the audience and the way the video recording was captured is clearly explained on the programme website."
