No rush for Afghan exit - Obama

US President Barack Obama has guaranteed that international armed forces will not run for the way out in Afghanistan, after an American soldier was accused of assassinating 16 civilians. Mr Obama
said overseas forces must be withdrawn in a accountable way. The killings in Kandahar province have stressed dealings between Afghans and foreign forces.

US Defence Secretary Leon Panetta speak the responsible person could face the death sentence, if found guilty. Mr Panetta said that the purpose was to try the case in a US military court.

Asked whether the soldier, who gave himself up, had admitted to the suspected offenses, the US defense secretary said: "I suspect that that was the case."

On Tuesday morning, some 600 students took part in a rally in the eastern city of Jalalabad, accusing the assault and chanting "Death to America, Death to Obama”.

The Taliban has rehabilitated pressure of retribution attacks, saying it would be head "sadistic" American soldiers.
