Assailants have fired various rocket-propelled grenades at the
Pakistan Military Academy some 50km (30 miles) north of the capital Islamabad.
The building is set in Abbottabad, near to the compound where
Osama Bin Laden was downed by US special forces in May last year.
Friday's attempt busted a wall but no deaths have been reported.
According to Pakistani officials, it was confusing who was accountable but
security forces have mounted up a search.
The Pakistan Military Academy is considered as the country's lead
training centre, at the level of West Point in the US or Britain's Sandhurst.
The fact that Bin Laden's place was set nearby to the acadamy,
came as an embarrassment to Pakistan.
This is considered to be the first rocket attempt in Abbottabad, a
hill resort popular with tourists. The attempt comes days after the US claimed
it shot down alleged al-Qaeda operative Aslam Awan, also recognized as Abdullah
Khorasani, in a recent drone hit in north-west Pakistan.
Mr Awan was from Abbottabad and a few analysts suppose that the assault
may be connected to his death.
